Newbie from Houston - Blown away by this site

Hey Guys!

My name is Adrian Lopez from Houston, TX.  My background includes over 20 years in IT (Oil and Gas and Healthcare), currently in Management, but lots of Project Management Experience.  I also have a video production business (www.houstonstreetproductions.com) which provides services for film, video, music video, commercials, promotional videos, voice overs, etc.  I believe in hard work, giving back and treating others as you would like to be treated.

I stumbled upon the Forums via a general real estate google search and have inundated myself with a tremendous amount of info from the site since.

Simply a gold mine of participants who are so generous with their wisdom and an easy to navigate site.  I've replaced my morning commute sports talk radio station with catching up on the podcasts.  Real Estate investing has always caught my curiosity and I look forward to acquiring my first buy and hold property within the next 2 months.  I have access to 50K in cash to invest, but not yet sure how it should be best leveraged.  I welcome any feedback from your own experience on this.

Also interested to hear your thoughts on how you forsee real estate investment opportunities changing for the worse or better in light of the current shifts in our economy (oil prices dropping, stocks beginning to pull back, interests rates soon to rise).
