Updated almost 9 years ago,
Newbie here from Durant, Oklahoma!
Okay, so I'm not that new...I been working my way through the Ultimate Beginner's Guide, reading forum discussions, listening to podcasts and soaking up as much as I can for the past five months or so and no one has even known about it because I never had set up a profile!!
Well, today, I decided to put an end to all that nonsense and jump right in with both feet! I got the profile up and running and now for the long awaited introduction!
My name is Emmanuel Wesley, I'm 26 years old and I currently work full-time as a truck driver. I've always had dreams and plans of investing in real estate but in my mind it has been a "some day" thing...until my wife and I had our first child four months ago, a beautiful baby girl, and in my line of work I'm not home everyday to spend with my family...more like once a week for a couple days at a time then back on the road! Yeah...so now my heart is telling me that the whole "some day" thing needs to become "ASAP!" because I don't want to miss any more precious time with her as she grows up!
I was so blessed to stumble across BiggerPockets one day. Any downtime that I've had out on the road I've spent soaking up information. I've had my share of laughs with Josh and Brandon and many of the podcast guests and overall I'm just super excited to have found a community of like-minded people!
Considering my job, which is NOT a 9-5 btw :) I've often wondered what would be the best strategy for me to get started. I just don't have the time or the capital to get involved with flips at this time or to deal with tenants. I can see myself starting a direct mail marketing campaign however to find good deals and then wholesaling those deals. Another plus is I'm in different states and different cities everyday, from urban areas to the boonies. Sometimes I see FSBO's in areas with less traffic and wonder if I can turn them into solid deals. If I can focus on building a reputable wholesaling business, that offers a superior product, then maybe I can work myself out of this truck and have time to dive deeper into things like fix and flips.
This is my strategy for now and I look forward to getting involved in-house the forum discussions and networking with the huge family here!!
Sincerely,
Emmanuel Wesley
