Hello Everyone!

I'm new to the community and I just wanted to introduce myself... My name is Nick and I'm from Upper Marlboro, Maryland. I've been hanging out on the website & listening to the podcasts for quite some time now just soaking up information, and thought I'd finally take an action that will actually begin to help me build some meaningful relationships in the industry. I'm a newly licensed agent and want to focus my business on helping investors find deals. If there are any local investors out there (MD/DC) who wouldn't mind donating me a few minutes of their precious time over coffee to let me pick their brain, and give me some advice on what they look for in an agent, I'd greatly appreciate it! Or any agents, for that matter, who just doesn't mind giving me a few tips on getting started — I'd love to meet with you.

Welcome to BP.  This is a wonderful resource available to you 24/7.  My suggestion would be to start networking at local REIAs and Meetups.  My personal favorite is the Baltimore Washington Meetup (www.meetup.com/bwimeetup.  There are many groups around here and in NoVA that meet where you can start building up your knowledge base and make connections in the industry.

I also am newly licensed and basically EVERYTHING that occurred before and after that point has been a direct result of Bigger Pockets, which I've been poking around here for a little over a year and a half. Thru BP I met a moderator who pointed me to a meetup (the one above) in my area, thru BP I have done 3 deals, thru BP I am hopefully getting an REO closed on in November for a client who I meet at the meetup who found the meetup thru . . . BP. You get the idea. Network, network, network. Once you start putting in the time, people are more open to taking that coffee break with you.

Good luck!
