Hi! New to the Bay Area - New to BP - Psyched to be part of this community!
Confession! This will be my first online community!
I have never been a member of any other social media, forum, blog what-have-you.
Part of it is that I just haven't had the time, but to be honest I never found a community I jived with enough to participate in. But I think this place is going to be different. I read the 9 tenants and I agree wholeheartedly!
Too many of my "real-life" conversations are with people who are lock stock and barrel bought into the industrial corporate model that broke down in the 1980's. Like Seth Godin says, "that social contract of me giving you forty years and you giving me my retirement years is gone." When people give me advice it's hard to listen when every other word is "Roth 401k."
The people I do find myself listening to most are people like, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Seth Godin, MJ Demarco. They have a wonderful grasp of the unique time in human history that we all find ourselves. The building blocks are all there to create any business or give life to any idea you want. The internet changed the game. All games. Photo sharing and social life sure, but more importantly the game of whats possible in business and enterprise and capitalistic endeavors.
I think this place is a great fit. A place I would like to learn from, share, network and hopefully contribute to in a meaningful way.
Hey @Dave Scott welcome to BP! I couldn't agree with you more. We live in a time where companies like Snapchat are getting $10B yes that's B for billion dollar valuations yet the average professional is getting less and less benefits towards retirement and a secure future. This is one of the main reasons I started my company.
Look forward to conversing.
Cheers,
Vala
Welcome to BiggerPockets @Dave Scott! I've always listened to Brian Tracy for self development and it's great to hear his name dropped here in your intro. I can already tell you're a wise guy! The tools are here as well on BP, learn them and use them!
If you haven't already, be sure to check out the BiggerPockets Podcasts. See y ou around the site Dave!

Hello from the Bay @Dave Scott !
Sounds like you'll bring an interesting perspective. You should come out to the meetup @Johnson H. and @Jay Y. have in San Jose coming up next Friday at Whispers café in the evening. It's great to be able to hear openly from other investors, and get some ideas and inspiration - and a good time.
Good luck on your adventure, and hope to meet you in person soon!
Hi Dave,
Welcome to Biggerpockets. It's great to have you on board. You're not the only one that psyched about this site. Real estate is a lifestyle by design. A couple of our investment partners also live in Palo Alto. Both of them are retired. One of them just re-rented his 2,000 sq.ft. rental in 94301 for $9,800/month. LOL!!!
Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to buy a garage there so I have to settle for the South Bay. There is just way too much money sloshing around in the Bay Area. Everyone is looking for yields, which drove up real estate prices quite a bit in the recent years. There are still quite a bit of start-up companies worth Billions in the Bay Area that most people haven't heard of. Not sure what that will do to real estate prices around here.
Welcome aboard.
Hey @Dave Scott welcome to BiggerPockets! It's definitely a great choice for making this site your first community! Feel free to take in the wide resources here. :)
