Hey BP!
My name is Matt (26), and my wife (26) and I are getting ready to start investing in Real Estate within the next year. For the past couple months, I've been reading BP posts, listening to BP podcasts, and reading everything I can get my hands on.
I've always been intrigued by Real Estate, and we purchased our first home in Avondale (about 12 miles west of Downtown Phoenix for those unfamiliar with Phoenix suburbs) almost 5 years ago as a rehab project. It's been a whole-home remodel and has been an incredible learning experience on all fronts.
We are nearing completion on this project and plan to sell within the next year and use the equity for fix & flips and eventually some buy & holds. I'm also seriously considering getting a Real Estate License in the next few months. Any Realtors in the Phoenix area have recommendations on schools?
I look forward to learning from you all!
Hi Matt, welcome to BP!
@Matt Wharton welcome to BiggerPockets Matt.
@Matt Wharton I went to AZ School of Real Estate & Business in Scottsdale which I thought was a good school. Only school I went to though so I cant really give any comparisons. Good Luck

Welcome. Fill in the foundation below.
Check out the Start Here page http://www.biggerpockets.com/starthere
Locate and attend 3 different local REIA club meetings great place to meet people gather resources and info. Here you will meet wholesalers who provide deals and rehabbers.
Two Great reads, I bought both J. Scott The Book on Flipping Houses,The Book on Estimating ReHab Costshttp://www.biggerpockets.com/flippingbook
You might consider Niche or Specialized Housing like student housing. Rents can be 2-4 times more. Remember you don't have to own a property to control it.
Download BP’s newest book here some good due diligence in Chapter 10. Real Estate Rewind Starting over
Good Luck

@Matt Wharton Welcome! I attended AZ School or Real Estate and Business, as well. It is located in Old Town Scottsdale, so it may be a hike for you. I really enjoyed the school and the instructors were great!
Please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. I work with investors daily!
Thanks everyone!
Thanks @Andrew Warner and @Amanda Mueller ! I will definitely be checking them out. About how long did the course take to complete?
Welcome Matt! I've been wholesaling here in Phx for a couple years now... and lived here my whole life! @Paul Timmins gave good advice on good reads. Keep connected to BP and make use of the all the great information and experience here. Let me know if I can be of any help down the road.
@Matt Wharton You can choose to take a 9 day crash course or go at your own pace. I did the 6 week course. They also have classes offered on the weekends if that works better for your schedule. Check it out: http://www.asreb.com/
I am sure you will find there are many options.
Thanks,
Amanda
@Matt Wharton Welcome. Arizona is a great and very exciting real estate market to be in. I took my classes through the Arizona School of Real estate and Business. My brokerage is now also offering and is a fully licensed real estate school. If you want more info about getting your license shoot me a message.
@Casey Cuppy shooting you a message right now. Thanks!
@Amanda Mueller The weekend courses would definitely be best. Thanks for all of the info. I will be checking them out!
@Account Closed My wife and I are both Arizona natives as well! Thanks for the welcome and info. I look forward to learning all I can!
