Learning North Jersey REI Business

Hello everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself to BiggerPockets Community, my name is Steven. I live in West New York, NJ, that's Northern New Jersey, 10 min away from NYC, great area and highly expensive. I'm pretty wet behind the ear's when it comes to REI. I hope to grasp a lot of great knowledge through all the forums, books and connections with people in the community. I've already attended my first BiggerPockets Meetup, hosted by @DarrenSager. It was more than I expected and meet some great people. I highly recommend it to anybody in NJ.

Currently, I work a demanding full-time IT career and I'm no longer really enjoying it. I read a book, called Rich Dad Poor Dad, I'm sure nobody has heard of it. ;) I decided it's time to make a change and look for a different path to my financial independence and REI is something that peeked my interest since a family member has been doing it for some time.
Just a few months back I was steps away from joining a "guru" class for about 20k. I'm ecstatic that I hadn't! I would feel like a sucker if I just spent all this money, when I could get just the the same on biggerpockets. There is ton's of great knowledge and information to learn on this site.

I'm looking into buy and hold multi family property in Northern New Jersey area, trying to put a plan together in which county is a good area to invest.
I hope to get my first property soon and I'll share with anybody looking to start my journey along the way.

Thanks for your time and
have a great day!
