New to the industry
Hello All, I'm new to the investment industry and I have little knowledge of how to start the process. I have a rental property that I've had for about 12 years. I'm looking to get a multi-family home, but I don't know how to find the best deals.
Hey Doronda! Welcome to BiggerPockets! You're in the right place to learn about real estate investing. Can't wait to see you grow. Are you planning to invest locally in New Orleans, or are you open to investing out-of-state? I am always down to talk about real estate investing in Columbus, Ohio.I can share insights on investing on both single and multifamily properties, including out-of-state investing. I started off with a duplex in 2020 and now have a solid portfolio of rentals with my partner. Let me know if you need assistance!

I would like to stay in an area I'm familiar with until I get comfortable with the entire process.
Hey Doronda, welcome to BP,
I suggest that you partner with an investment-focused agent that can connect you with the best deals and provide you with the right comps to know if the numbers make sense or not. What market are you looking to invest in? There are some great opportunities in the Columbus, Oh market if you're still searching.

I’m not familiar with the Columbus, OH area. I’m familiar with New Orleans, LA and the surrounding areas

Join local real estate investor associations in your area and check Facebook for local meet-ups so you can network with investor-friendly agents or even wholesalers in your market that find deals

Hi Doronda! Welcome to the world of real estate investment! Starting a rental property already gives you a good foundation. Consider networking with real estate agents and attending meetups. All the best!

It can take a while for action to start .I read on the topic for 2-3 years before I made a move into S.F.H rentals .
Jeff, I plan to attend some meetups to start networking.
Billy, I’m in no rush. I want to become proficient in this area before I just invest a chuck of money.

Some good ones are the Westbank Real Estate Investors Meetup that meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month (details here wbrealestateinvestors.com)
North Shore REIA in Covington
St Bernard Meetup
NOREIA
I go to all of them and they are good.
