Hi all! I'm Kim, and stumbled across this site when researching online about a current water damage/insurance situation we're in (I have posted a question in the Property Insurance forum here).

I have lived my entire life in SoCal. My parents were landlords (SFRs and a fourplex) when I was growing up, so I observed it throughout my youth - and painted more than my share of rentals. My husband and I decided to buy rentals ourselves, and have accumulated a triplex here in Orange County and 2 fourplexes in AZ (Phoenix metro).

Husband and I both do structural engineering, and are pretty handy, so we do most of the work on our rentals ourselves.

This looks like a great forum, so I will be reading through many threads, especially on topics and investments we're interested in. We'd like to learn about how to invest in larger multi-family (5+ units) and commercial properties (strip malls, etc.), and perhaps industrial too, but since my parents never did, I had no one to ask about it before. Now this forum looks like a good starting point!
