New member in Maryland/D.C area

Hello all

My name is Brien, I am 23 years old and currently stationed in Maryland with the Navy. As of now, I have no experience in REI but believe it offers a great opportunity to improve my financial health. My wife and I began reading books on investing about 2 months ago, and from that point on we have continued to expand our knowledge and interest in REI. During my search for more information I came across this site and jumped at the opportunity to get advice and guidance from veterans already in the real estate game. I intend on making my first investment within the upcoming months and I am trying to get any guidance or mentorship I can before making my first deal.

I think a great way to begin using BP is to read the Bigger Pockets Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing as Josh and Brandon did a great job with it.And now that you're here we'd love to see you be an active member of the BP community so be sure to set up Keywords Alerts for your local area such as "Odenton" or "Washington DC" if you're looking to find potential opportunities for investing, education in a subject, or other members in your area. Use the Find Members area to network with other members who are local to you or are in an area you're wanting to invest in. Podcasts come out weekly and are great way to learn on the move. I find there's always a gold nuggets of information in each one and I go back to listen to a number of them multiple times.
