I am currently looking into making my first purchase on a rental property and have heard a lot about forming an LLC before I do. I was wondering what benefits I would get from forming an LLC and if it would make a difference If I formed the LLC before or after I make my first investment. I have also read that by forming a corporation it would create a plethora of tax break I would be able to take advantage of, would an LLC afford me the same opportunities as a corporation?

My name is Brien, I am 23 years old and currently stationed in Maryland with the Navy. As of now, I have no experience in REI but believe it offers a great opportunity to improve my financial health. My wife and I began reading books on investing about 2 months ago, and from that point on we have continued to expand our knowledge and interest in REI. During my search for more information I came across this site and jumped at the opportunity to get advice and guidance from veterans already in the real estate game. I intend on making my first investment within the upcoming months and I am trying to get any guidance or mentorship I can before making my first deal.
