Got the bug from a few houses, but looking to learn more!

Hello, everyone - My name is Alex, and I live in Maine.

My wife and I have bought and sold a couple houses across the U.S., with mixed results (though we're learning).

We came here to learn, connect, and make money - obviously! Our current live-in flip has eaten up a ton of cash reserves due to ever-increasing materials and labor costs, so we're hoping to get some ideas on how to maximize the investment on our way to a new place - probably Omaha.

Omaha is more affordable than Maine, so making a profit on this house will allow us to get set up for our first rental. Scott Trench's book 'Set for Life' gave us the motivation to make sacrifices, assess our risk tolerance, and be more open minded about house hacking.

I'm looking forward to soaking in some great wisdom among the experienced members here, and I hope to help others avoid some headache/costs along the way, too. Thanks for having me!
