Looking for a real estate investing coach
Hey everyone,
My name is Patty and I am brand new to the Bigger Pockets community and wanted to see if there is a real estate investing coach recommended in this space who specializes in helping someone get started in out of state real estate investing with the goal of maximizing cash flow.
A few more specifics about myself. I’m 28 and I am a full time Physical Therapist in the greater Portland, Oregon area. I’ve read “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, “Long Distance Real Estate Investing”, and am halfway through “Rental Property Investing” by Brandon Turner. I currently have ZERO investing experience. I know in Brandon’s book he’s not a huge fan of coaching as he believes the entry into real estate investing is accessible for everyone even without exceptional business skills. However, as someone who is a member of the very fearful that Robert Kiyosaki talks about in his book and someone who comes from a sports background I think I’d really value the help of a coach. I’m really excited to start learning from everyone on this platform.

@Patty Arville, I just posted something to another person’s post that was looking for Coaching as well so I will say the same thing here because it applies:
BiggerPockets and REIA meetings and books can provide a good foundation, but in my mind, they pale in comparison to a good coach. They will provide you the ingredients to invest successfully in real estate but they often don't provide the step-by-step recipe.
I get why you would want a coach. I myself have spent over 100k on coaching and mastermind groups. I find a ton of value in them. They have helped me scale my real estate business to over 250 doors, including 120 single family, 30 doors in multifamily, and around 100 units in mobile home parks. My properties are spread across 2 states with a few out of the country. I do my real estate investing part-time. I’m also a therapist with a therapy practice in Arizona.
I continue to actively buy more and sell off some of our properties each year. I also run a real estate investing meetup in Mesa, Arizona where I started to get asked by people attending my meetup if I would teach them or coach them in buying real estate. So I started doing a little bit of coaching on the side and I’ve coached around 12 or 13 new investors in how to invest in real estate. I have an about a 90% success rate meaning that 90% of the people I have coached have bought properties under market value and have increased their net worth by 30k or more each time they bought a property.
I would say the purpose of coaching is to get better results then you would get on your own and to cut down on the time it takes to become successful. A good coach can help you know which aspects of investing are more important than others while a book, or an REIA, or a podcast may not be able to explain that as well. For me, I don't think I would have gotten to where I am now if I didn't have coaching.
Good luck on your search for a coach and let me know if I can help.
