New Investor Looking to Househack and Connect

Ricky Yao
Posted

Hello BP! I am excited to start my RE journey and hope to purchase my first property this year. I am currently renting in Charlottesville as I've just graduated from college, but looking to house hack and purchase a duplex/multifamily in the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) area. I am primarily looking in the central VA neighborhoods (Albemarle County), NOVA, and Washington DC area based on my current location/job.

This is the second time I posted this since I realized I had no clear intention with my first introduction. I am very eager to learn and absorb as much as possible. Looking forward to connecting with any DMV investors and the BP community. Thank you!!

Welcome to BP @Ricky Yao.

With multifamily, just be cognizant of where it actually exists. The Virginia side of the border only has a few that sell every year. Most of the multifamily that exists is in DC proper, typically in Trinidad, Kingman Park, Capitol Hill, Anacostia, Deanwood, Shaw, Columbia Heights.

A number get mislisted in the MLS accidently as single family homes. I just combed through the data the other day and identified 28 current listings in the single family section of the MLS that are in fact multifamilies.
