Big Bear Short Term Rental

Ana Bedevyan
Posted

Hello,

Just some background. My wife and I just purchased a property in Big Bear (Sugarloaf). We will be remodeling and furnishing it within the next couple months. With my wife’s background in design, we are hoping to provide guests with a cool and lavish experience.

Our questions are regarding rental company management versus DIY on Airbnb. We live in LA and our response time would be two and a half hours. Is it worth paying the extensive fees for rental companies or is it possible for us to manage from home? We are okay with the day to day managing of the property. But is it by law that we have to be able to respond within an hour or be there to let guests in? Or is this a thing of the past. The last few times we stayed was keypad entry. Also, once you lock in a cleaning and maintenance company, are you good to go? Or are there several other things to consider.

Would appreciate any insight, advice, etc.

Ana
