About 10 days ago a guy called me to reserve a place for his job here.  Very strong Chinese accent.  He said he was in Canada at the moment, and was coming to my town for a 12 month job at the refinery.  Said he needed a temporary place until he could find a LTR.  Told me he had to self quarantine for 10 days before he could work.  He got in last night, paid me over the phone this morning for a weeks rent.  Later he asked for some supplies like a notebook.

So I'm going to take him a notebook, todays newspaper (with nothing available for rent in the classifieds), and some fruit; all in a basket.  I'm hoping he realizes that he won't find a better place to stay.  Charging him $300/week.  He could probably rent a run down house for $400 a month, but it would have no furniture, no washer/dryer, no utilities, no cable, no wifi.  His per diem is at least $700/week.
