Buying a VRBO property but I live out of state, thoughts...

My husband and I have found a property we would like to purchase to VRBO. We visit the area often so we would use it ourselves as well.

The question is, we live out of state and wondering how difficult it will be to manage. I’m sure we will need to have a management company involved, would love to hear if anyone has experience in the situation.

Hey @Malisa Inmon, we live in Western Washington and our lake house is in Harrison, Idaho about 36 miles downlake from Coeur d'Alene. We have been self managing for 4 years now and it has been easy and working great!

Just make sure you get a good cleaner (which we have trouble keeping) and handy person (which I have a rock solid guy). Make sure your neighbors know what you are doing. We were upfront from the beginning and there have been no issues. One of our neighbors is awesome and he helps out.

Like @John Underwood said, use VRBO and AirBNB and manage from your phone! That is exactly how we do it and we are booked solid for our season with lots of bumper activity even into April.
