STR owner/ occupy law in Greenville SC

Has anyone found a way around the "owner has to occupy" law for STR's in Greenville SC?

An out-of- state family member inherited their parents' home, and it's just sitting their, slowly draining money from his pockets. I would love to rent it from him and test out AirBNB. But, no one "occupies" the residence for the majority of the year. Greenvillains can only STR as a "Bed and Breakfast" in your primary home.

Any info is greatly appreciated

    STR here are pretty much illegal. Just rent it with a 12 month lease. We are getting good Monthy rents here.
