Hotel Room Excise Tax Certificate and Short Term Rentals in PA

Anyone have short term rentals in Pennsylvania?  Do you need to have a Hotel Room Excise Tax Certificate for your property?  If you do, do you need to get it before you start renting out the property?  This would not be my primary residence.  It would be a stand alone rental...just for the purpose of renting to the public.  Thanks.

Yes you do. You have to register with Monroe County and part of that involves proving you registered with etides. You also need to check your Township bylaws and get a permit.
