Is AirBNB hurting themselves and or there hosts?

AirBNB has been charging Crazy high service fees some over 80% on some bookings I have had in the last couple months. Including charging over 400 dollars on a 450 dollar one night booking in September. Normally they go to great lengths so as to not let host know how much they are charging so my guess is may people haven’t even noticed.

They are also investing heavily in direct competition of there business model and have laid off 25% of there employees and from what I can tell have angered most the remaining. There host service is way down. Maybe it’s an IPO push to get a crazy high evaluation.

I'm wondering if others have noticed this and what you guys think. All that said STR are at least in my area doing better then ever despite AirBNB not because of them.
