Woodpecker Visiting Cabin Each Morning - Eastern TN
Hello everyone, I own a cabin in Sevierville TN and I recently discovered that a noise my guests were hearing every morning was being caused by a woodpecker that is stopping by for a visit. I read online about the usual tactics for scaring off the bird, but since I am not local I was curious if anyone had a contact for someone in the area that has helped them deal with a situation like this before. I could just grab a handyman, but was hoping someone local might have experience with the best tactics and be able to locate any damage that may have been caused by the bird to repair.
Thanks in advance for the recommendations.
-Mike

He’s eating carpenter bee larva. Get rid of the carpenter bees and you’ve gotten rid of the woodpecker. Although it’s nearly impossible to get rid of carpenter bees around here.... Best thing you can do is go around the house (or have someone else do it) and fill in the holes with calk or wooden dowels. Also have your bug guy do a carpenter bee spray every spring.
Every 5-10 years the house needs to be stained. The stain guy will fill in the holes and stain over them at that time.
