New England Short Term Rental

Christina Webber
Posted

Hello! Hubs and I are considering purchasing a vacation home to rent out and use ourselves occasionally. We’d like to stay within New England so that it’s driving distance from us (on the Cape). Can anyone recommend locations that have good potential?

Right now we have our eyes on Campton, NH. Close to skiing and hiking in the White Mountains and not too far from the lakes region. Seems to have good year-round (minus mud season!) appeal. But we’d love to hear other suggestions! Thanks :)

Hey @Christina Webber, that is a neat area. My wife and I visited the region a number of years ago and we loved it.

After some quick research that area has some pretty good competition and rules around STR are not very stringent. Home prices are decent and the nightly rates for an average place is around $150.

You will have to do some work to make your place stand out. There are over 300 places in the general area so you want to offer some great amenities and style to stand out. Maybe allow dogs.
