Vacation Rental Need a Theme

Daphne Roberts
Posted

I have a house that we are in process of renovating. Its located in a rural area of the desert.  Our main renters will probably be winter visitors.  We are located about 15 mins from one golf course, and about 25 from another.  I am not particularly interested in just golfers. I want ideas for other potential quiet tenants that want peace and quiet. How do you attract those?  Do you also offer some massage or nail services? What your experience with places 15 mins away from downtown shopping?  Any suggestions?

Forget about tenants that want peace and quiet.  You're not running a nursing home or a hospice.  People want to have fun if they are on a vacation.  Fun at the residence can involve outdoor activities like horseshoes, a fire pit, outdoor grill and patio, archery, fishing etc.  Indoor fun includes cooking, watching sports/movies/adult movies on an HDTV that has a Roku device, taking a nice bath or shower, playing darts/pool/poker/ping-pong, getting beer from a kegorator, a fireplace, etc.  I give all my 22 STRs a theme.  It can be hunting, bird dogs, sports, guy movies, Arnold, Terry Redlin, etc. Most of bedrooms all have tasteful nude oil paintings.  The rest of my bedrooms have raunchy stuff, those are for my renters that like that kind of stuff.

Refinery contractors is who I rent to; welders, fitters, boilermakers etc.
