A "customer" who turned out to be another owner in the building rented the apartment via AirBnB under a false name and after being there more than 30 days gets legal possession of the rental under SF law and cannot be evicted.

I kind of feel for the neighbors of a condo that people use as a full time airbnb rental. Would you want new neighbors every week or every month who have no interest in the neighborhood or community or building good neighborly relations? If I buy a condo I don't expect the building to turn into a hotel. Rent control on the other hand, is just a bad idea. It does nothing to control housing costs and just entitles a few people who happen to have moved in earlier at the expense of everyone else because the price of the rest of the units goes up.
