Neighbor refusing to move camera pointed at STR pool

Private STR home with private pool in fenced in back yard. Neighbor puts up a nest cam on his high back fence pointing right over into our back yard where the pool is.

I confronted him about it twice already cordially but he gave some BS excuse saying he can see down his fence line with that cam. I explained that we’re not comfortable with the camera pointing over in our yard even if it’s on the fence line. The last time he told me that it wasn’t even working but it still has power and the infrared lights light up.

From the reading I’ve done it seems that he would lawfully be allowed to have the camera there unless it’s pointing directly at a door? Does anyone know if this is correct? I’m close to calling LE regardless to check as he’s not willing to be a decent neighbor and work with us.

We received our first complaint about it tonight from a renter which I knew would happen sooner or later.

Put a mirror to reflect the sunlight to camera whole day it will fry the sensor.

I believe the OP said earlier in the thread that the neighbor has another STR on his other side too… maybe he's had trouble with guests and a rotating cast of strangers beside him daily and he wants to ensure the misery is more evenly distributed… I would hate to have a STR on both sides of my house. Not a great way for him to handle it but just saying…

I would put some sort of a barrier so he can't see into your yard, a tree or shrub in a pot so you can move it around would work or something totally in appropriate even better.

Looks like a section of tall fence is in order.

I would get ready for other options as well. He can just move the camera after you put up the block.

@James Hamling is right....look at harassment and stalking angles, especially in today's climate. I would also think that a sexual component is in play here being a pool area where people are scantily clad or maybe even skinny-dipping?

One of the articles I read says the law allows you to view their camera feed. I would imagine they would get tired of you insisting on viewing that every week....

What article is that?  I'd like to read it.
