Lease STR property to LLC for operating/property management

Abby Weaver
Posted

Financed my first STR to get 90% loan, so property is in my name (not owned by LLC).

Any benefits to leasing personally held vacation home to my own LLC, to help keep business expenses separate from personal & long term rental expenses? It's a pass through LLC entity so no benefit to charge rent to myself - but does this help with operating as a Property Management LLC with business expenses?

Thanks!

Not really @Abby Weaver. Any negligence claims will come after you directly as the owner of the property.

You are better off with a strong STR insurance policy and umbrella to cover you basses.
