Self Management Questions
We are closing on our third STR on Monday. The first 2 are in the Black Hills and the third is in Broken Bow. We have hired management companies to date, but are really wanting to take over management ourselves at the end of the year. We don't want to screw things up going into our busy seasons. What resources should we be looking at to make this a seamless transfer and not screw up too badly?

Hey @Jim Stutzman, first thing you need to find out is what the contract says about not renewing it. Do you have to maintain the current bookings for 6 months (or whatever)? Is there a fee to end the contract?
I would spend some time searching on the forum as there is a ton of info there about self management.
I agree with @Collin Hays on everything listed. Get all the pros ready and setup regular maintenance on the hard systems (furnace, A/C etc)
You want to go through the house with a fine tooth comb looking for anything that could cause a problem. Loose steps, deck boards, nails sticking up, etc.
Get everything all squared away and then make sure you stay on top of it all. Once it is up and going, things will be good to go!
