Airbnb REQUIRING Hosts using an API connection to pay 16%+ fees?

Does anyone have any experience with this: I just read in the Airbnb "Terms" that "All Hosts with API connection will be enrolled to Host Only Fee and will not be able to opt-out." That is like 16% or more. Right now I have the standard fee split with 3% to host and about 14% to 15% to the guest. OwnerRez is my management software. I'm not using the Airbnb API currently because it really doesn't help much, but was considering it to save up in time with some tasks. I'm thinking it's a "no go" if I have to take on all the fees and raise prices instead. That is really not going to help my revenue stream. Guests would rather pay lower rent and fees than higher rates. It's a phycological thing (like phone and cable companies use, lol).

Is anyone using API connection with Airbnb? If so, are they charging you these fees? How's that working out? Any insight is much appreciated.
