Short Term Rentals Prohibited

I was planning on renting my house short term until I was told by the township that short term rentals are prohibited for areas zoned residential. (I live in PA.)

Im not interested in doing anything prohibited, but there’s got to be other options. I’m trying to get more information on what constitutes “short term.” Can I rent out rooms if I live here? Can I rent out month to month on Airbnb/VRBO? Can I rent to traveling nurses, etc., so long as I’m not renting to the public?

Where can I find these answers? I think the township is stonewalling.

Anything over 30 days is not short term.   You can probably go on line and find your city ordinances.  The township should be able to provide you with something in writing regarding the ordinances and answer all of your questions.
