Yahoo, there is finally a new real estate investment networking group here in Portland! WIN (Westside Investors Network) is having their first meeting Wednesday, January 22nd at the Lucky Lab in Multnomah Village. Networking starts at 6:00 with an informational presentation that begins at 7:00. Everything should finish up around 9:00. The cost is $10 per person at the door and your first meeting is always free.

This is going to be a reoccurring monthly meeting on the 4th Wednesday of each month with different topics to be discussed. The first topic is going to be about property management from Chris Shepard at Uptown Properties in addition to a market watch. Here you will learn what to do but more importantly, what not to do. With the ever-changing rules and regulations for property managers in Portland (and Oregon), you MUST stay current on the laws. No matter if you are self managing or if you are using a property manager, you need to stay up to date on these topics. Chris will also take questions and be available afterwards if you have specific topics to discuss.

WIN was started to provide more opportunities for people learn about different investing strategies, techniques and also to network with like minded people. The whole idea is to share knowledge and ideas in order to promote real estate investing. Investing can be a daunting topic for beginners. This meetup will help alleviate peoples fears and help them get comfortable in the local market.

The learning opportunities are crucial for real estate investors of all levels because it really helps you accelerate your investments. With the knowledge that you will gain and the people you will meet, you will be able to find the right deals for you, find a buyer for a property or find someone to partner up with on future deals. I really value the market updates to see which way the market is trending as well as a glimpse into what could be happening in the next few months or years. In addition, the topics that are discussed are a great crash corse into the topic du jour. In the past these have helped me narrow my investing niche and guided me to define what I want to focus on and what I don’t.

If you are (or planning on becoming) a real estate investor, going to these networking events are not only a good idea, they are crucial to your investing success. CE credits are available. The more knowledge you have and the more people you know, the greater chance you will be successful. After all, isn’t achieving our goals the most important thing? See you there!
