We’re excited to have J Martin, a renowned real estate entrepreneur, Bigger Pockets celebrity, Meetup Host, and founder of the SF Bay Summit Real Estate Conference, as the guest speaker for October’s meetup! J has experienced big wins and painful losses investing in real estate syndications, and he’ll share his invaluable lessons with us.

After early setbacks, including a felony conviction at age 19, J built up his Bay Area real estate portfolio while building a highly structured AirBnB arbitrage business.

It was so successful that J was able to "retire" at 31 and spend the past decade living in the Philippines and over fifty other countries, enjoying a great lifestyle while giving back through volunteering.

Always focused on generating the highest possible return on his equity, J decided to sell most of his Bay Area properties at the top of the market a few years ago and reinvest the proceeds as a limited partner in other people's syndications.

This presentation will focus on his experiences with those investments, which, as he will explain, ranged from really good to total losses.

After getting out of jail, J bought cash-flowing real estate in the expensive SF Bay in rougher areas, then started an Airbnb sub-leasing business - now managed by a team in the Philippines.
He quit his “9-5” at 31, and now spends his time traveling the world. He hosts an annual real estate conference in Oakland with some of the best folks from the BiggerPockets website.
He built and mostly sold a sizable Bay Area real estate portfolio and invested in multiple syndications.
