Launching property management business

Hoping to get some input from investors who also run property management businesses.

Is it possible to launch a property management business while working a fairly demanding W-2 job? I personally know many investors who I think would trust me as a pm which would be a good starting point. But I am not certain how much time I will need to dedicate while growing it? Is it possible to start as a side gig and grow it slowly until I make enough profit to do it full time. Keep in mind I want to do property management alongside my investments as well.

How did you guys get started in property management?

Yes, this is exactly what I did in 2016. Was working on Wall St commuting 90 minutes one way into NYC. Started managing properties in the neighborhood I lived in and added VERY slowly. Hit 70 doors under management end of 2019 and between that business and my own rentals I quit my job.

Today we have 180 doors under management, a construction business and I am also a broker now. Looking back I wish I left earlier, I make more money now, have more fun and don't have to deal with all the corporate bs.
