Prospects asking you for ID
So, I had a first this week.
I am marketing a vacant unit and a prospect reaches out. I can tell he's kind of high maintenance and a bit of a pain. He's asking questions about the application process, all of which were answered in a previous email to him, but I will spare you the details. One of things I ask prospective tenants for, as part of the application process, is a copy of their photo ID. He then responded with he wants me to provide ID and proof of ownership of the building.
I don't think I would do this for a couple reasons. I might point him to the DOS website where my operational LLC is listed. The owner of a building is public record, but I don't think I would volunteer that information. Oftentimes, I am not listed as the owner anyways (held in my wife's name), and discussing the specifics of my business model and how assets are held is on a "need to know" basis. I recognize his concern , but like I said - this was a first.
Anyone ever have this request before? How did you respond?

@Wesley W. This sounds sketchy. If he doesn't want to provide his photo ID, then deny his application and move on. Your don't really want a high maintenance tenant imho.
