Cigarette smell in my rental!

Hey everyone!
I have a tenant set to move in three days, luckily I was able to get in early to get maintenance an repairs going in prep for the next tenant. However, my visit last week revealed massive amounts of cigarette smell on the first floor and basement.

Have any of you dealt with this kind of remediation before? I’m curious to know how much this will cost. I’m in the DMV area so I’m sure costs are a little higher around her but I’d love to get different perspectives and experiences on this!

Thank you all

Good luck!  I had one apartment that was so bad I had to replace the HVAC ductwork, the HVAC, the carpet, the ceiling tiles and repaint all the surfaces, plus put in an ozone machine for several days!

Start with scrubbing everything down, cabinets, walls, carpet, everything.  See how it smells after it is closed up for a few days.  Go on to the next thing...repaint, recarpet, clean HVAC vents, HVAC.  Repeat, then go onto the next thing Ozone machine, replace HVAC system....keep going until it does not stink!
