TENANT HAD HIT PIECE WRITTEN! DEFAMATION LAWSUIT!?
Any Real Estate attorneys want to take on a Defamation Case against Spectrum News?
My tenant, who has not paid rent in 10 months, went to the newspaper with lies regarding my attempts to evict her from the house.
I was not contacted by the journalist. And this article makes multiple false claims that I acted in an illegal manner.

I can only imagine your outrage over this manufactured chaos. I'm so sorry you've been put in this position. Yet I so hope that you'll act on it. I know what I would do; see what you think:
1. I would file a Small Claims Lawsuit (so cheap to file) against the tenant for the full amount she owes you. Get the judgement so you'll have the joy of knowing that she won't be getting that new car or i-Phone - much less a new apartment - before you get paid.
2. Send a Cease and Desist Letter to both the tenant and Spectrum; you can have it inexpensively prepared by an online legal service. The premise is "Mr. White is in the process of taking legal action against you. Please preserve all evidence, cease and desist, and handle yourself accordingly."
In the letter to Spectrum: include a demand to have their fabricated/unsubstantiated fable removed immediately.
In the letter to the tenant: include a demand for compliance with the CDC mandate:
"Covered persons must now provide their housing provider with a copy of a signed declaration form stating that they meet the requirements to be a “covered person.” Be sure to point out that "as with previous CDC orders, property owners may still evict tenants due to criminal activity, damaging property, or for violating other contractual obligations."
They deserve to have their efforts acknowledged, don't you think?
And, be at peace...these stories have gotten to be so repetitive and stupid that no one is reading them. Spectrum isn't exactly the Wall Street Journal so fight back with class and give them an opportunity to have some sleepless nights complements of their own stupidity.
Hope this helps. I'm on your side.
