Safety Rules for Tenants

Hi BP!

So, I'm updating my safety rules that I have all my tenants sign prior to moving in my units and was wondering if there are other items I should add?

(Not in order)

1) Check and Replace Smoke Alarms every 6 months

2) No 100 Watt Light Blubs allowed

3) No Daisy Chain of surge protectors, max of 6 items per wall outlet which has usually has two.

4) Keep candles in a sturdy holder on a level surface, away from combustible materials and out of the reach of children or pets. Blow them out before leaving the room.

5) Notify landlord when away from unit for more than 3 days. (If longer than 5 days, I usually ask them to turn off my main water supply to the unit.)

6) Smell Gas in the house, Leave Home immediately.

7) Keep portable heaters at least one feet away from anything that can burn (including curtains, furniture, and you)

8) Don’t store flammable liquids near a heating source but, ideally, outside the home in a cool ventilated area, in approved containers.

Anything else I should add that you can think of?
