Looking to install a simplisafe, what items to buy?
Hello,
I am looking at buying a simplisafe system. I have a Vacant unit that has been broken into twice now over a course of 2 months. And I am fed up with it.
I want to install a security system. Of course, the unit does not have wifi.
What item should I buy? There are two doors to the unit, the front door and the back door. Would that mean buy two entry sensors?
Does it come with a alarm or do I need to buy the siren?
Worth getting a motion sensor. and how many?

Generally, I use 2 door sensors, one motion and use the window decals and the yard sign. I suggest you use the simplysafe app on your phone so that you can turn it off and on remotely.
I don't think this works if you don't have it hooked to wifi.
It works. The sensors and keypad communicate with the base station by RF. The system has its own cellular connection, that's how it calls you or the police. You CAN connect the base to Wi-Fi and further expand the capabilities of the system to arm and de-arm sensors, but you don't have to. I typically put a basic system in a vacant house where just the power is turned on, no Wi-Fi, no landline.
I meant the phone app. I don't think you can use the phone app to arm/disarm without WiFi. SS told me when I got my system that the $15 plan was the keypad on the wall and cellular connection to the system and to dispatch, and that if I had WiFi I could upgrade to the $25 plan with the app, cameras, etc.
Wow. I love my systems, but...nope. You put the app on your phone and you turn the system on and off remotely, no upgrade necessary. Maybe you need to upgrade to use the Simplisafe cameras, I don't know. I prefer the Night Owl wired cameras. The technical specs and flexibility, not to mention the $$$, just don't compare.
All in all, this tech's capabilities are incredible and the systems are just getting better. They're already changing the low C-class game, they're going to keep on changing it.
