Water Softener

I bought a unit that should rent for ~$2,000. It has a busted water softener. Costs $900 to fix, and a new unit will run $1,000-$2,000 installed. Also costs $200 to remove.

I'm leaning towards outright removal, but I have never had a water softener. No idea of the maintenance required, hassles down the road, and whether tenants love it.
