What States are Landlord Friendly?

I have been looking at properties in the west side and south side of Chicago that look very promising as a rental property. After talking to some real state agents about renting in the area they have warned me about placing money aside for evictions and legal fees. I will build a portfolio of rentals in Chicago. I am curious to know what other states that I can invest in that are more landlord friendly.

There are plenty of states and areas that are better. Lower taxes, fewer regulations, better laws, fairer judges. Kansas, Colorado, Texas, Tennessee, Wyoming, Idaho, Arizona, Utah...

Just do your research. Don't forget to consider all the expenses. Property may look really attractive until you realize the taxes are 4x what they would be in a neighboring state or that evictions take three months as opposed to two weeks.
