Anybody use renters insurance?

My tenants have destroyed my property. Hardwood Floors are scuffed and peeling. Water damage in the bathrooms. Their dog (that I didn’t authorize) has urinated all over the place including the drywall next to the front door and needs replaced. Banister is laying on the ground. Carpet is destroyed.

Their lease is up in June. They will be out at that time. I have to renovate before it can be rented again.

This is a condo. I have home insurance. It’s for this type of situation. I’m asking if anyone has had experience with this this topic. I haven’t heard anybody talk about it on BP. Thanks to any and all responses.

Renter's insurance is for the tenant to protect them from liabilities not for you. You would security deposit here and then bill them for the remaining balance. Unfortunately they wont pay likely but you can attach it to a debt collection agency and have it be collected and go against their credit report for failure to pay.
