Simple question: who gets to keep it?

Posted

Tenant tried contacting previous owner about replacing a washing machine 2 years ago that didn’t work anymore. Owner didn’t respond and tenant bought a new washing machine anyways. Now that there’s a new property owner, Does the tenant get to keep new washing machine after he moves out or does that new washing machine technically belong to the new property owner? Thanks!

@Vanessa Zamarripa I think the tenant should be entitled to keep the machine, since they bought the machine and had it fitted at the property.

And I agree with @Mike McCarthy I'm sure it will be a hassle for the tenant to take the washing machine with them once they move out, so they might be pretty willing to have you buy it from them. It also saves you the time and money of purchasing a brand new one and having it fitted at your property. Plus, you can score a good deal on the washing machine.
