Tenant Concerns regarding egregious behavior.....................

Good Evening

I have an interesting scenario.  The wife of a tenant had a mental breakdown the other day at the apartment.  The landlord lives on the first floor, the landlord's mother and niece live there.  The wife of the tenant physically assaulted and used egregious behavior towards the landlord's mother and niece.  They pressed charges and the police took the wife away.  The wife will have a restraining order moving forward. luckily nobody went to the hospital.  What are the necessary steps the landlord needs to take to protect their family? This all happened in NY and the coronavirus is happening as well in all this mix.  As we all know the laws have changed most recently.  What advice or resource can you advise for support? I know this a lot to take in.

I would go to the police department and ask them what the protocol will be. I would tell the guy tenant that his wife can't stay there as there's a restraining order and she'll be arrested if the landlord's mother or niece call the police on her for violating the restraining order.

Tell the guy he's more than welcome to stay there but his wife should find another place to live; the guy will likely realize he'll need to move out (so he can live with his wife somewhere else) and you won't need to evict him.
