Listing Property prior to closing

Hello Everyone,

I am closing on my first property in 5 days. The property will not need much work, other than a fresh coat of paint. The seller and I have a close relationship so they have given me the keys prior to the closing date. So the question is, would I be allowed to list the home on the market prior to actually closing on the home?

I think you can list it but it's just better practice to wait. The seller might get upset with you even if you have a good relationship with them. You certainly won't be able to get in any contract since you won't be legally allowed to encumber the property.
