Whole House Water Filter for lead and such

Mike A.
Posted

I purchased a building in Stamford which has old lead pipes underground.  It would cost over 10k to dig up and replace.  This  attaches to the water main and clears all that stuff out.

Anyone have an opinion on this?

Personal opinion is that it’s probably worth the replacement cost. Lead is a huge thing these days, and if you have a child in your rental who tests positive, you’re opening yourself up to a lot of liability.

The problem with carbon filters is there’s no good way to determine when they are saturated and need to be replaced. Reverse Osmosis (RO) filters are much better at removing lead, but are usually setup as point of use filters just for drinking water at the kitchen sink.

Just a personal opinion... good luck!
