question about utilities for rental property

Milan Patel
Posted

This is my first rental property in Georgia (Duplex). Tenants will pay all the utilities. I have a question about utilities.

1. Should I sign up the utilities under my name and pass the bill on to the Tenants

OR

2. Have the tenants sign up utilities on their names and let them pay the utilities.

What kind of paperwork needed if I need to go with option 2?

Thanks

@Milan Patel

I have my tenants pay all utilities in my SFH. It is there responsibility to contact all the utility companies. I provide them all the contact information for utilities. They also are responsible for cutting the grass and shoveling snow.
