Hit landlords garage with car.

(Ohio, USA) On August 11th, I backed into my garage and notified my landlord. I let him know that I’ll be getting an estimate as I only dented in the bottom panel. They took it upon themselves to have someone call and schedule an appointment with me. The landlord, garage guy and myself were outside looking at the garage and the garage guy clearly stated that it was only the bottom panel that was dented, but the garage itself is fully functional with no other problems. Of course, they don’t have any of the same bottom panels.. I did not have auto insurance at the time (unfortunately) as it was a car I only really kept in the garage so it wasn’t on the street & my renters insurance said that they only cover what is INSIDE THE HOME. I agreed with the landlord that I will pay for the whole garage door in full. $900. It was all my fault, even though I truly believe the garage door is faulty. Regardless, I could have avoided it somehow, someway. He insisted that they get the quote for a second garage door as well because it’s a double and he would like the other garage door to match because his wife is very picky about it. The only mismatch would be how deep the designs are of the individual squares on the door.. He sent me a text yesterday stating that ‘I’m sure you don’t have the money upfront to pay for the DOORS. We are willing to pay $300 for the SECOND door. They aren’t even attached AT ALL! Why would he think I would have to pay for the second door? I told him that I would pay for the deposit to get the process going right away and money is not even an issue. Do I have anything going for myself? Do I HAVE to pay for the second garage door ‘just so they match’?? Thank you for everyone’s time!
