Turning on utilities following an eviction?
So I just evicted a tenant and the water company is asking for proof of eviction before they turn on the utility. Old tenant did not pay water bill and tempered with the meter. So they need proof of eviction.
The tenant that was evicted was the one on the lease. It did not include her spouse on the eviction paperwork. This was an inherited tenant (i bought the place 2 months ago) so the lease agreement form the old owner did not include her spouse.
Now my issue is that I believe the spouse name was on the utilities. Would the utility company accept that a eviction took place. Or is there more proof required?
