Is it illegal to charge a fee? Application fee
I like to handle the background checking process myself, instead of using a website...
- I still would like to charge fees, as it takes me an hour per application to see if it’s a good applicant or not...
My question
Is it illegal to charge application fees, if I’m doing the due diligence myself and not paying a company?

I do believe that you can charge an application fee regardless who is actually doing the checking.
You should use a service that can give you a credit score, evictions, and criminal checks.
