I Need a Property Owner's Perspective

Hey folks,

I had an idea today that I might need help executing. I'm currently a renter with aspirations buy a home soon but it's difficult to save up enough for a down payment in Denver. I noticed the house just down the street from the one that I am renting has had contractors in and out over the last few months so I had an idea: Because of the proximity of this property to mine why not find the owner's contact info and try to develop a property management partnership. I think this would give me great hands on property management experience and since it's so close I won't charge much if anything so it's a win-win.

So here is my question: If you were the owner of this property what would you like for me to offer as far as services? I do not have property management experience but I do run a small wood shop and I have fairly extensive home repair experience. I'm also an architectural engineer so I have experience with building systems and I believe that would help bulk up my resume in this situation. What do you think, good idea, bad idea, is it wrong to bother the property owner?

If this venture pans out I plan on keeping you all updated on what comes of it in case any other newbies want to consider the same thing. Thanks for reading!
