Tenant from hell. How can this be legal ?
Hi guys, we recently rented an Airbnb and had a horrible horrible horrible tenants that we had to evict. Airbnb canceled the reservation and I thought the nightmare was over but seven days later I got a violation from the city saying that the tenant reported strong sewer smell. The inspector at the city is not helpful at all. It’s been two weeks and I have been given the runaround as to what I need to do. He is asking me to pull permits for the work I did on the kitchen and asked me to get a plumber to inspect it. This will obviously cost me a lot of money. I’m still not sure as to what the inspector wants me to do exactly. My question is how can somebody turn in a false violation against me? Don’t they have to inspect the violation before they ask for unnecessary repairs and inspections?

If you did the work without a required permit then the City will not be very helpful. Do what they are asking, pay the price, and don't renovate again without a permit.
If the work was permitted (or a permit was not necessary) then you can walk down to the City and talk to someone face-to-face. Being polite and professional to their face will probably go a lot further than a phone call.
