Bedrooms without closets

Ive bought a multi in the fall river area. A few of the bedrooms do not have closets. Does a bedroom need a closet to be considered one. The house was listed as if they are bedrooms so i would assume closets aren’t mandatory but have heard many people state that it cannot be considered a bedroom without a closet. Can someone please shed some light that has experience in Massachusetts preferably Fall River as each town might have different laws.

Often times realtors will list rooms that don't have closets as bedrooms, but legally, it needs to have a closet here in MA (with or without doors).
